Board Member Spotlight

Ann Robinson, Treasurer

Hi, I am Ann!

I have been associated with SLO Village since early 2016 and have been on the board since it was officially started.

I am now a widow, but I was married for over 47 years to my husband, Lou.

Now I have my buddy, Charlie, who is a 3-year-old mini Labradoodle. He is a good companion who makes me laugh and keeps me active.

I love to travel and traveled extensively until March of last year. I hope to travel again as soon as it is reasonable to do so.

Besides the SLO Village board, I am on the board of the Land Conservancy in SLO and the capital campaign committee for SLO REP, the local theater. Besides those commitments, I keep busy gardening, reading, going to my family cabin in the Sierra (where we can be totally isolated) and walking Charlie.

I worked in high tech for many years until I retired over 25 years ago.

Much of my childhood was spent in a lumber camp in the Sierra Mountains. We lived there from early spring until late fall. School during that time was a one room schoolhouse.

In this last year, I have been struck by how kind and helpful so many people have been. Early on, I had offers from several friends and acquaintances to shop for me, which was unexpected and although I didn’t take them up on it, I appreciated the offer.

I’m definitely looking forward to my turn in the vaccination line. Age has few privileges but being near the front of the line for a Covid vaccination is one.

Although I have adapted to staying home and not traveling abroad, I am looking forward to doing so again.
